Manta Encounter

Out of the harbour at 07:00, 15 to 20 minutes across to where the crews have been seeing mantas, and if one is there you slide into the water and watch it from the surface. The usual return is around 08:30, leaving time for the rest of your day on Ukulhas.

Underwater: a manta ray gliding through open blue water, a snorkeller in a mask watching from the surface a few metres away.

Watch from the surface with a guide

A guide goes in with you. Watch the manta move at its own speed, and keep your distance: nobody chases and nobody touches.

Our crews see mantas here throughout the year and on most manta trips, which is why this one leaves so early. It is still a wild animal in open water. Some mornings they are somewhere else, and the trip is charged whether or not one appears.

For couples looking for a shorter guided snorkel, this and the Nurse Shark Encounter are two of our first suggestions.

The Manta Discovery + Snorkel Combo leaves at the same hour and adds two reef sites afterwards. The Manta Encounter is also part of the Ocean Trilogy, and one of the nine trips you can pick with the 3-Day Adventure Pass.
