Private moments, quietly arranged.

A sandbank hired for one evening, with a table set at the edge of the water and dinner cooked on the sand while the sun goes down. Or vows exchanged on the beach at Ukulhas with Bodu Beru drums behind you. Sandbank Dining starts at USD 400 for two and symbolic weddings at USD 1,500 for two.

An evening on a sandbank

A couple dining under a white canopy with red flowers beside the sea.

On a sandbank hired for your evening, a chef prepares dinner beside the water and a waiter looks after your table. A photographer and videographer capture the occasion, with ten finished photographs and a sixty-second film included.

From USD 400 for two. At USD 500 dinner becomes three courses, with the menu built around what you like, seafood included.

Symbolic weddings, on the beach or at sea

Both packages include Bodu Beru drummers, flower girls, a bouquet of real flowers, a cake, and photography and video of the ceremony. Your coordinator sits down with you in the first days of your stay to settle the decoration, the cake, the timing and the photography, then builds the day around those answers.

Island Wedding on the beach, USD 1,500

The ceremony is held in a setting decorated for you on the Ukulhas beach, and dinner is served there too. The beach stays public throughout, so other people may be nearby and may take photographs.

Sandbank Wedding at sea, USD 2,500

The same ceremony, moved out to a sandbank hired privately for it. A speedboat carries you, the team and everything the day needs, and dinner is served on the sandbank at sunset.

These ceremonies are symbolic. They do not create a legal marriage, and any legal formalities need to be completed separately. Both settings are also used for vow renewals and anniversary ceremonies.

If the weather rules out your day, we look first for another one while you are still here. If bad weather or another valid reason means the ceremony cannot go ahead at all, the ceremony charge is refunded in full.

Smaller occasions, and bigger ones

For an evening on the island itself, the Bistro team sets a table at the shoreline at sunset: the Sunset Dinner on the Beach, USD 90 for two with three courses each, or the Sunset Romantic Live BBQ Dinner, USD 145 for two, which adds a live barbecue. Other people will use the beach. The table and the evening are yours.

Honeymoon Bliss, USD 265 for two, spreads three occasions across your stay: a dolphin cruise for the two of you, a sandbank picnic, and the Sunset Romantic Live BBQ Dinner, each on its own day.

Nala Honeymoons are whole six-night stays for two at Nala Veli Beach & Spa, with the return boat from Malé, selected meals, time at Nala Spa and a dinner by the water in one price. Proposals, anniversaries and vow renewals have their own stays too, each built around a sandbank evening or a ceremony.

What to settle in advance

A symbolic wedding needs booking in advance, so the flowers, the drummers and your date can all be arranged properly. For Sandbank Dining, talk to us before you arrive rather than during your stay.

Every price on this page is for two people, in US dollars, and includes applicable service charge and taxes. None of them is per person.

If children are coming, tell us. We will confirm which arrangement works for your party.

Tell us the occasion

A proposal, an anniversary or vows by the sea: tell us what you are celebrating and the setting you prefer. We will discuss the arrangements, availability and price before you decide.
