Symbolic weddings on Ukulhas
Vows on the beach with Bodu Beru drums behind you, or on a sandbank hired for the day with the sea on every side. The Island Wedding is USD 1,500 and the Sandbank Wedding USD 2,500, each for two, each with flowers, drummers, a cake, dinner, and photography and video.
These ceremonies are symbolic. They do not create a legal marriage, and the certificate is a keepsake rather than a legal document. If you also want to marry legally, that has to be done separately.
Your coordinator, in the first days of your stay
Your coordinator sits down with you early in your stay to settle the decoration, the cake, the timing, and the photography and video. What you decide becomes the plan, and the coordinator arranges the flowers, the drummers, the makeup and the dinner, and the speedboat if you are going out to the sandbank. What is included does not change; how it looks is your choice.
Island Wedding, USD 1,500
A setting decorated for you on the Ukulhas beach, with dinner served there afterwards.
The island beach remains public, and passers-by may take photographs. If you prefer a setting hired exclusively for your ceremony, consider the Sandbank Wedding.

- The setting on the beach, decorated in a style you agree with your coordinator.
- A bouquet of real flowers and bridal makeup.
- Traditional Bodu Beru drummers and flower girls.
- Photography and video of the ceremony.
- A symbolic wedding certificate, a keepsake of the ceremony rather than a legal document.
- Your room set up for the night.
- A wedding gift.
- One excursion with Nala Experiences for you both to share, excluding the Whale Shark Expedition and the four packages, subject to operating conditions.
- A wedding cake and a romantic dinner on the beach.
Sandbank Wedding, USD 2,500
The same ceremony, held on a sandbank at sea. The sandbank is hired privately, and the speedboat takes you, the team, the drummers and everything the day needs out and back. Dinner is on the sandbank as the sun goes down.
Included:
- The sandbank, hired privately for your ceremony.
- The speedboat transfer from Ukulhas to the sandbank and back.
- A bouquet of real flowers and bridal makeup.
- Traditional Bodu Beru drummers and flower girls.
- Photography and video of the ceremony.
- A symbolic wedding certificate, a keepsake of the ceremony rather than a legal document.
- Your room set up for the night.
- A wedding gift.
- One excursion with Nala Experiences for you both to share, excluding the Whale Shark Expedition and the four packages, subject to operating conditions.
- A wedding cake and a romantic sunset dinner on the sandbank.
The excursion you get to choose
One trip for the two of you, chosen from Manta Encounter, Manta Discovery + Snorkel Combo, Nurse Shark Encounter, Turtle Point Snorkelling, Snorkelling Safari, Dolphin Safari, Sand Bank Escape, Half Day Desert Island, Desert Island Escape (Full Day), Octopus Hunting or Night Fishing. The Whale Shark Expedition and the four multi-trip packages on our Experiences page are not included, and every trip still depends on the sea that day.
Vow renewals and anniversaries
Either setting works for a vow renewal or an anniversary ceremony rather than a wedding. Tell us the occasion and who is coming, and we will confirm the arrangement that suits.
If the weather changes your plans
We look for the next suitable day of your stay. If bad weather or another valid reason means the ceremony cannot happen at all, the ceremony charge is refunded in full.
If you cancel after check-in for another reason, we refund the ceremony payment in full while no preparation costs have been incurred. Once costs have been incurred, for example for the bouquet or for reserving the drummers, we deduct them and refund the balance. Reserve early, and tell us who is coming
The earlier you write, the more the team can do about flowers, drummers and your preferred date. Tell us who will attend, children included, and the coordinator will confirm the arrangement. Both prices cover two people and include applicable service charge and taxes.
