When to visit Ukulhas

Think about what you most want from your time on Ukulhas: swimming from the beach, boat trips or an outdoor celebration. The wind and sea change through the year, while mantas are seen on trips in every season.

Use your priorities to choose a period, with some flexibility for conditions during your stay.

The sea and the beach through the year

The Maldives has two main seasons, the south-west monsoon and the north-east season, and conditions can still change from week to week within each. Because the bikini beach looks south-west, it catches more of the south-west monsoon, and its sand can move.

If swimming and shore snorkelling are high on your list, ask us what the beach and reef are like around your dates, and check with the team on the day before you go in.

Boat trips and wildlife

Mantas are worth planning for whatever month you come: our crews see them throughout the year and on most manta trips. Wind and swell decide which sites the boats can reach, and the captain confirms each trip on the day, so leave a little flexibility in case a trip needs another day. No sighting is ever promised.

If quiet matters

Nala Veli Villa sits on a quieter residential street, so it is the stay to ask about first if a peaceful setting is a priority.

Dates for a celebration

Symbolic weddings need reserving in advance, and the earlier you get in touch, the more time the coordinator has to plan. Sandbank Dining and dinners on the beach depend on the weather and sea; if an evening is called off, we look for another one during your stay first.

Two things about dates

The festive period runs on its own terms. Stays from 15 December to 10 January follow their own cancellation and payment rules, set out in Policies, and the whole-stay offers cannot be booked across those nights at all.

Leave a spare day. The captain confirms each boat trip on the morning, and beach dinners depend on the weather too. If something is called off we look for another day during your stay.

Find the dates for your holiday

Send the period you are considering and what you most want to do, and if your flights are already set, we can fit the beach days and trips around them.
